A new short film created by Frankie MacLaughlin & Elizabeth Conway

LOGLINE:

Bella and Maggie are hired to dress up as princesses and perform at a kid’s birthday party. Upon arrival, the mom informs them that she believes her husband is cheating, and needs their help to uncover his lie.

SYNOPSIS:

Bella and Maggie, a best friend duo, are slowly getting their lives on track. In the meantime, they’re taking gig work as princess entertainers at children’s birthday parties. One sunny Los Angeles day, they’re hired to perform at a birthday party for a snotty nine year old named Harper. Harper’s mom, Clarissa, explains to the Princess Duo that she’s in need of additional services: Clarissa believes her husband, Michael, is cheating on her, and wants the girls to investigate her suspicions. Maggie goes on the hunt for clues, while Bella attempts to entertain the kids. Bella and Maggie soon discover that Michael’s antics are much more sinister and complex than just a scandalous affair.

DIRECTOR’S STATEMENT:

At its core, PRINCESS PARTY P.I. is pure fun: A comedic film starring two women who get dragged into a potentially dangerous situation completely on accident. The film is similar to comedies like SUPERBAD, THE SPY WHO DUMPED ME, 21 JUMP STREET, BOOK SMART, & THE OTHER GUYS. Our leading ladies replicate the personality dynamics of Abby & Ilana from the hilarious BROAD CITY. Beneath the hilarity, the story highlights central themes of feeling “lost” at the crossroads of life, and how we as humans grapple with that experience differently.

COMPANY BACKGROUND:

Elizabeth Conway and Frankie MacLaughlin are a writing, producing, and creative team who are obsessed with understanding society's flaws. They co-founded LESS PRECIOUS PRODUCTIONS back in 2018, after meeting at an audition in Los Angeles. The rest is history! Through their scripts, they seek to offer relief around our culture’s biggest question marks - approaching uncomfortable, arcane, and abstract themes with a vengeance, and embracing the unconventional. In the universes they create, anyone and everyone can be the main character.

Sharing theatrical and improvisational backgrounds, Frankie and Elizabeth write from a character first perspective. Their scripts come to life from free play in a rehearsal room, which is how they eventually craft fine-tuned, natural dialogue. They’re interested in telling stories that challenge stereotypes and redefine the cultural zeitgeist. They dive in headfirst, and always strive to do their research and get it right.

LLC FORMATION:

After creating together for close to six years, in 2024, Frankie and Elizabeth filed Less Precious Productions, LLC as a full service production company operating in the State of California.

Less Precious Productions, LLC is represented by Stuart Smith at Harris Beach PLLC.
